Ondřej has a collection in his old iPhone gallery of his hands wearing jewellery, usually taken on the ground outside his studio after creating the pieces. When he contacted Klára to create something unusual to photograph his work, the two decided to use her playful approach to scale and transform these body parts into giant, body-like ornaments and garments. The perception is one of confusion, where the boundaries between nudity and illusion are questioned.
Klára on the work: ‘I focus on the theme of nudity in the context of photography’s technical environment and its limitations. I explore the boundaries of socially acceptable nudity and seek to uncover its various forms and possibilities for representation. I am fascinated by how differently a model perceives their exposed body when it is possible to create an environment in which they feel secure enough to be themselves and retain control over the unfolding situation. For me, there is a paradox in the fact that the model covers their body with something as simple as a printed piece of paper, while the viewer, from a different perspective, perceives entirely different emotions. The nudity depicted on the other side of the paper, combined with the photograph, is meant to provoke questions about whether the viewer is actually looking at a naked body or not.’
‘In this way, I create a new form of nudity, where the boundaries of the photographic image are not merely dimensional—restricted by the four sides of a frame—but are instead layered, multiplied, and transformed within a single scene. My aim is to create an entirely new form of the body.’
