Aiming to break the stigma of menstruation through the mediums of jewellery and embroidery, Ariel’s collection is inspired by the experience a woman goes through during her periods. Conversations that she had with women about their periods have influenced her designs, leading her to create brooches in colours which mimic those of period stains. Her work displays intricate stone carving detail, which allows the possibility of discussing this “taboo” in everyday life, while pieces such as “Periodtone” inject a little humour into what can be a difficult topic.
