This is a fragment of a short fictional story, commissioned by Current Obsession and written by the Dutch visual artist, curator and writer Frank Koolen, for the occasion of jewellery exhibition CULT at the Stedelijk Museum Den Bosch. One of CULT’s main particularities is the emphasis on the jewel’s role as a catalyst of a wearer’s identity. Six fiction writers and artists were asked to create stories crafted around certain exhibition themes or selected pieces. The narratives are meant to allude to the potentially infinite human scenarios in which jewellery is complicit. Audio excerpts of these texts are present in the show, and full versions will be printed in a special #6 The Cult Issue, due spring 2017.
