Born in Saitama, Japan, and currently based in Osaka, Hiyu Hamasaki is a jewellery artist working across jewellery, installation, education, and curation. After graduating from Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry, he continued his practice while teaching, and now lectures at Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry, Kobe Design University, and Vantan Design Institute.
Working under the theme of “confirmation of existence,” Hiyu explores human presence and identity through color and material. Combining metals, plastics, shells, paint, and found materials, he transforms everyday elements into wearable objects with vivid textures and layered forms. Inspired by the chaotic colors of daily life, his works consider color not as decoration, but as evidence of emotion, individuality, and human existence. Through jewellery and objects, Hiyu invites viewers and wearers to recognize and reaffirm their own presence in the world.
